The Life Stories Youth Ensemble was founded in 2006 by Urban Arts and The New Group to provide students with a laboratory to develop original works. The program offers advanced acting and playwriting training to students from low-income public high schools across the city. The students develop and workshop their own pieces with teaching artists and visiting master artists. A few times a year, the Life Stories ensemble perform a series of one-act plays for an audience on an off-Broadway stage.
