The 24 Hour Plays: Los Angeles 2013
June 22, 2013 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm200$
From June 21-22, 2013, The 24 Hour Plays® presented by Montblanc took Los Angeles for the third consecutive year! On Friday night, 27 actors, 6 writers, 6 directors, and 2 musical guests met at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica to begin a 24-hour marathon of creativity to benefit Urban Arts Partnership’s programs in Los Angeles public schools.
Saturday at 8pm, the actors took to the stage for a one-night-only performance of six brand new short plays penned overnight. Only at The 24 Hour Plays® can you see John Cho interrogating confused airline passenger Alia Shawkat about a mysterious maternal device; Jason Biggs and Melanie Griffith as a couple losing their spark as they’re pursued by a face-punching Super Carrot; or Samantha Barks – Eponine herself – torturing Sasha Alexander with her “terrible” singing voice.
This year, for the first time, our audience of over 500 also saw current Urban Arts Partnership high school students fully integrated into the cast of seasoned stage and screen stars. Emanuel de los Santos and Cadesha Oliver were selected by a panel of repeat Plays cast members in Montblanc’s Young Auditioners competition.
We are so appreciative of the sponsors, donors, volunteers, creative team, and crew who made this event our most successful west coast fundraiser yet!
