- Get to know Urban Arts in 2011 in a gallery & interactive showcase of exceptional student works from our network of 60 Title I public schools across the city.
7:15pm: Perspectives on Reform: A Panel on the Policy & Practice of Innovation in Public Education
- Leading voices from the federal, state, city, school, classroom and university spheres come together to share their perspectives and de-mystify Public School Reform from the inside out. Panelists include the USDOE Director of Strategic Partnerships Suzanne Immerman, NYSED Regents Research Fund Senior Fellow for Teacher & Principal Effectiveness Amy McIntosh, NYC DOE iZone 360 Executive Director Tres Watson, New Design High School Principal Dr. Scott Conti, Veteran Teaching Artist & Director of the Hip Hop Re:Education Project Fabian "Farbeon" Saucedo, and New York University Professor & senior associate at the Metropolitan Center for Urban Education Dr. Joseph McDonald, moderated by Executive Director Philip Courtney.
8:30pm: Nagler Scholarship Presentation
- The annual Nagler Scholarship awards an exceptional Urban Arts graduate who is in need of financial support in their college years. In a brief presentation to close our FriendRaiser evening, longtime board member Niclas Nagler will introduce this year's competition winner.
