iDesign Sisterhood Kickoff!
iDesign hosted its 2nd Annual Sisterhood Kickoff on Friday, October 9th! What is Sisterhood you ask? Only the coolest program ever offered to 9th and 10th grade high school girls who struggle with attendance. The program offers youth development, group theory and building trust with teens. The Sisterhood program also provides 11th and 12th grade “Big Sisters” with the opportunity to mentor their younger peers. This year iDesign recruited 20 Big Sisters and 2 New Design High School Alumni to be a part of this great program. Big Sisters attend weekly lunch groups with younger girls to discuss college, academics and the social aspects of high school.
The kickoff was a huge success. Everyone arrived at their lunch group and enjoyed complimentary burgers from Five Guys (thank casino online you, Five guys!). The meeting kicked off with an icebreaker – a fun way to get everyone familiar with each other. These girls will be meeting every week for the rest of the year to fulfill the iDesign mission of creating a youth-driven, safe space within the public high school where students can develop their socio-motional and intellectual selves among a community of motivated socially conscious young leaders!
