MS53 Radio Show!
The 701 & 702 sections of Mr. Carl McClendon’s ELA classes at MS53 in Queens are currently reading Lyddie, a novel by Katherine Paterson. This work introduces students to the harsh reality of child labor in America during the 1830s. The students previous performance task was to create an original poem and perform during an in-school assembly. Due to the heightened nerves and apprehension to present their original work on stage, we decided to create scripts based on chapters from the book and create a radio/podcast series that would teach the students the art of dramatic voiceovers and acting for a radio drama. Enjoy!
