Last week, the Redwood City Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Academy hosted the entire Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Academy network for a productive and fun-filled program training. Urban Arts Partnership Academy teaching artists and coordinators attended the intensive, three-day hands-on training for experienced artist educators to engage in collaborative media making, and to reflect on how to deepen the youth media making process in our programs. The focus of our training was on ‘storymining,’ or how to facilitate authentic and inspiring stories from our youth and community. We incorporated beginning and advanced Premiere and After Effects and reviewed the core principles of Adobe Youth Voices: Create with Purpose.
Academies from Redwood City, Oakland, San Jose, Los Angeles, and New York participated in the training. We each presented our program model to the group and shared our core program mission, best practices, and how we deliver our program to our youth. Overall, the training became the setting that gathered everyone and allowed us to set a solid foundation for creative collaboration. We look forward to implementing all of the great ideas and continuing to deepen our connection with the other Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Academies!
Thank you to the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Peapod Foundation, and Adobe Foundation for making it possible for Urban Arts to attend this invaluable training.
