MediaLab students on the red carpet of the Tribeca Film Festival.
Each year, the Tribeca Film Institute curates the Our City, My Story screening. This showcase for young filmmakers is presented as part of the annual Tribeca Film Festival.
The Urban Arts Partnership MediaLab documentary Typecast was chosen as an official selection for this year”s Our City, My Story. It joined nine more youth-made films for school and community screenings on Friday, April 29th. Our MediaLabbers accompanied their film to the festival – walking the red carpet, meeting their fellow filmmakers, and participating in an audience Q&A.
Typecast shares the stories of two online casino young artists living with diabetes. The complex relationship between identity, health, society, and access to care is highlighted as we see a young actor from Bushwick dive deep into the bodegas in search of fresh fruits while a young woman is haunted by the disease that took her father.
Stay tuned to the blog for student reflections on the festival.
