An Urban Arts Partnership teaching artist pairs with a classroom teacher to bring core curricular material to new life through the arts. Working with our original Integration Planner, teacher and teaching artist integrate an art form into classes that include English, History, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics, ESL/ELL and Special Education.
“Arts integration affords all students - especially those with special needs or limited English proficiency - a non-threatening way to learn new content and skills.” – Britney Montgomery, Teacher, MS 131

English & Illustration - Storyboarding for English Language Learner Students
Recognized as a promising practice in English language acquisition, writing and literacy development are reinforced through original projects.

Social Studies & Theatre - Young Citizens
Theory and practice of government are explored in the writing and performance of a student play that dramatizes the rights and duties of active citizenship.

Science & Music/Design - Building Music
Key principles from physics and other sciences take on new meaning as students build their own original electric guitars and amplifiers, then learn to play original music on their newly-built instruments. Participants learn about wave theory, electromagnetism, and build circuitry like basic amplifiers and scratch pads.
