UAP Homecoming – Alums Reunite!
On December 19th, more than 35 UAP Alumni were reunited for our first official ‘Homecoming’ event. As the organization continues to grow, our staff is looking to find ways to stay connected with, continue to support and engage UAP youth who have graduated high school. Part focus group and part fun, the Homecoming event was planned and executed by UAP’s very own Alumni who are employed by The Academy & iCONNECT programs, Manny Minaya & Marlin Almonte.
The evening began with a warm welcome by Armando Somoza, icebreakers by Sarah Bowie, headshots and photobooth photos by Anna Strout, and ongoing support from Shenica Odom, Keith Kaminski, Delia Denson and Mikey Cordero. There was dinner, dessert, music, and an artist showcase. Alumni from graduating classes reaching as far back as 2009 were present to reconnect, network, and reminisce about their days participating in UAP programming. We learned a lot throughout the night by listening to what the Alum have been up to since high school and the successes and challenges they have had transitioning into adulthood. This was the first in a series of events that will continue throughout the year with the goal of developing programming that supports and continues to engage our high school graduates.
Welcome back UAP Alum! Stay tuned for more opportunities to keep in touch.
