Life Stories – 24 Hour Plays Off Broadway

This June 14, our Life Stories students demonstrated their acting chops and the theatrical skills they have honed over the year. The creative process for The 24 Hours Plays Off-Broadway began at 10am on Saturday, June 13 when a group of three writers, three assistant directors, 11 Life Stories actors and education professionals gathered at Theatre Row. Each participant brought a prop, a costume element and creative ideas to help inform the writing process.  After a collaborative workshop, each writer was tasked with composing a 10 minute play by the end of the day. Bright and early on Sunday morning, the directors–Rosie Perez, Jesse Williams and Lynn Whitfield blocked, staged and rehearsed the play with their casts and on the 24th hour, our students performed off-book to the amazement of the sold out house!
